The Great CAmerican Roadtrip : There and Back Again - Day 1

Months of preparation have led to this day.  Bags have been packed.  Driving routes have been decided on.  Hotels have been reserved.  Family and friends have been notified.  Finally, we have reached the first day of our vacation.

7:15 p.m. is the time of our departure.

Our trip to Bryson City is not our first.  The route we took, however, was a first for Natalie.  She drove the entire trip on highways through boondocks, mountain cities and incredibly nerve-racking winding curvy roads through a gorge in pitch-black night.  Perhaps she should have driven said road in daylight for the first time where the possible driving-off-the-road was less of a possibility.  But I digress...

10:15 p.m. is the time of our first destination:  Bryson City, NC.

Shout out and thanks to BDD.

This short 3 hour trip marks the beginning of the Great CAmerican Roadtrip.  Our next stop: Washington D.C.

Quote of the Day:
As we are leaving our neighborhood, a pair of young men walk across the street in front of our car just after our light turns green.  Natalie says, "They don't have a white guy!" referring to the walking light signal and how they were walking across the street when it wasn't their turn to cross.  Phillip points out, "But they do have a white guy," referring to the fact that one of the pair was in fact, a white guy.
